Civitas Networks for Health Experiences Significant First Quarter Membership Growth; Prepares of Health Equity Focused August Conference

Washington, DC – May 15, 2022 – Civitas Networks for Health announced today that has added eleven new member organizations to its collaborative in the first quarter of 2022. As the largest national network of its kind, Civitas is comprised of member organizations working to use health information exchange, health data and multi-stakeholder, cross-sector approaches to improve the health of Americans.

Civitas launched in October of 2021, through the affiliation of two national membership organizations – the Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative and the Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement. The new organization is building upon the strong foundation of long-standing members and is excited to have the increasing diversity of organizations spanning from regional health improvement collaboratives, health information exchanges and strategic business and technology entities.

Organizations who have joined the network since Jan. 1, 2022, include: AcademyHealth, Accorian, American Academy of Family Physicians, DirectTrust, Health Gorilla, Innsena Communications, Intrepid Accent Inc, National Association of Health Data Organizations, PHOENIX at Wayne State University, Tamr and Telligen. These organizations represent and add to the multitude of services and the deep expertise of the Civitas network, with more than 160 member organizations representing 95% of the US population.

We heard a powerful presentation from Common Ground Health CEO Wade Norwood who discussed key findings from their Color of Health Report: The Devastating Toll of Racism on Black Lives, as well as the multi-stakeholder process involved in developing the comprehensive report.

Wade shared poignant words with attendees about the importance of the Civitas network in addressing health equity gaps and the value of collaborative action to address racial bias and improve the health of communities across the country.

On Wednesday, April 20, Civitas Networks for Health members from across the country gathered virtually for our monthly all-member forum, Network News.

During this month’s meeting, we heard important updates from Civitas member councils, including the Government Relations and Advocacy Council and the Emerging Leaders Council. We also introduced the Civitas Nominating Committee.

We also officially launched the Keith Hepp Scholarship Fund for Emerging Leaders, which aims to send members of our Emerging Leaders Council to this year’s annual conference in Texas.

Finally, we heard about grant opportunities from Civitas member organization eHealth Exchange and received an engaging update about The Gravity Projectfrom Evelyn Gallego, CEO of EMI Advisors.

Speaker proposals sought for hybrid in-person and virtual conference to be held in San Antonio in August

WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, February 23, 2022 — Civitas Networks for Health and DirectTrust today announced they are combining their respective annual conference events into “The Civitas Networks for Health 2022 Annual Conference, a Collaboration with the DirectTrust Summit” with the theme “Better Together: Health Data Collaboratives and Information Exchange to Advance Health Equity”. The conference will be held August 21-24 at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter, San Antonio, TX.

The national hybrid event will provide a robust learning and networking experience for attendees both in-person and virtually. With an array of health care industry leaders sharing ideas and best practices around improving health information exchange and interoperability, as well as many other critical topics influencing health improvement efforts aimed at increasing health equity, attendees will depart with thought-provoking and actionable ideas to be implemented in their respective communities.

Civitas Networks for Health and DirectTrust are seeking proposals for presentations for those working in health information exchange, interoperability, the social determinants of health, value-based care, health disparities, quality improvement, health care affordability, measurement and reporting.
